Kikki K 2014 - Inserts Review

So last week I purchased my 2014 inserts for my personal size. It was a snap impulse buy, but whatever.

I posted my 'haul' on facebook and had some requests to blog about my thoughts and do a pen test.

Let's get started!

My local store likes hiding these types of things on me, I can never find them and always have to ask. The packing the insets come in is nothing to write home about just a plain plastic slip, but for $15, one can't complain as that is cheap for inserts compared to the Filofax and Collins inserts.
I also love the fact they start in the first few weeks of December - right before uni starts for summer so I can use them sooner!

The only layout they offer in personal size is week on two pages which is what I have been using most of the year.
Hopefully you can see this clearly, these are 3am photos.
Each day has faint lines on it so you can write neatly, each day also has a birthdays line, so you wont have an excuse to ever forget.

I don't know if I am going to use these, the boxes are tiny!!! It also makes it really hard to write in when you are left handed like me.
I think I may need to purchase the Filofax horizontal monthly inserts or make my own.

The Pen Test

I know a few people were interested to see what pens would bleed through, I was really surprised. The quality of the paper is so much better then the Filofax inserts and I also think they are better then the Collins inserts I've been using.

Now, I do not own a lot of fancy pens. I am a huge love of the Pilot Frixion range though.

Pens Used

Flip side, not as much bleed through, just a bit of shadowing - I can live with that

This is the flip side of the paper with it held up to the lamp in my room.
There is however one thing I find slightly annoying is that there are these black banners on certain pages. Nothing a sticker can't cover. I just find them annoying as it cuts out some of the writing space in the day. A nice gesture, just annoying.

Have you planned what you will be using for 2014?

New Filofax Insert Idea

Hello!

I've been searching the net for some new filofax inserts that I can print (I am having a bit of a planner revamp) I have found a few ideas on Angela's page (paperlovestory) her assignment planners are great! I have also been searching philofaxy's inserts, but I thought of one this morning, which I have been dying to mock up all day and here it is;

A skincare regime reminder page!

I work within the cosmetics and skincare business, so I am a nerd when it comes to make up and skincare, however I am not very good at remembering if I put the clay mask on yesterday or the day before. I was going to mark it in my filofax when I got the brainwave of just making an insert for it.

Here is a picture of it;

I started with a word document and put in a table, starting with just numbers (so I don't have to keep making one each month) and then I just added in the products that I use on a regular basis (It seems like a lot, but I don't use them every day, as they would end up cancelling each other out). You can see the basic Cleanser,toner etc. These change every month or so I haven't listed specifics, however the things that read, "facial peel cream", "complexion refiner" are all Nutrimetics Products. (I mainly use nutirmetics as it's the company I work for www.nutrimetics.com.au/rochelled if you want to look at my page *self promotion*)

So the idea is to keep this in a section that I will tick every day what steps I have completed for that day. So I will always know when I put that clay mask on. (If anyone uses a clay mask, they would know how it brings almost everything out and you look like a pizza face for a few days after lol)

It's the little things in life :)

Handmade Filofax Inserts

Hello!

So it's almost 5am on a Sunday morning, I've been up all night due to the heat of summer here in Sydney, In my sleepless mental state I made some inserts for my planner! Yay!

So this was my first one - I didn't notice how uncentred it is until I looked at this photo :(. I just used a old Christmas card as the base as the bottom paper is almost fabric like. I will be using this insert for my uni things, important dates, GHANT charts, to do lists ect.

So this one turned out a little better I used another card as the base and just some scrap booking paper with some rub on stickers...not bad considering it was about 4am.

Behind this insert will be where I keep my goals..I never thought about keeping these in my planner, but hey, everyone else does.

I'm planning to make one more to keep my Misc ongoing projects...I don't know about some of you, but I feel like I really do not have all that much to do or using my planner to it's potential.

What else do you put into your planner?
